Research and Conservation
Plett seal adventures is dedicated to supporting all conservation efforts to safeguard the marine eco-system along the South African coast. The Robberg Nature Reserve and Marine protected area as well as the Keurbooms River and Bitou River wetlands are of special interest to us.
We have worked with the WCS (World Conservation Society) supporting research efforts in the Atlantic Ocean and along Indian Ocean participating in the research of the migratory path of the humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae). Our whale research included ‘shoot & scoot’ DNA collection off Gabon.
Over the years we helped many students complete their field research in the Tsitsikama and Plettenberg Bay areas covering cetacean studies and fish biodiversity studies. Our efforts have been recognized by the National SPCA which has our full backing. We aspire to give logistic support to ocean and wildlife research projects.
We intend to facilitate researchers with unique accommodation overlooking the migration path where we’ll be doing both boat-based and land-based whale watching and research.
