Enjoy a scenic boat ride out to the Robberg Nature Reserve, where you’ll get up close and personal with a colony of over 6000 Cape Fur Seals.
A boat trip from Hobie Beach will take you out across Plettenberg Bay’s pristine waters to the Robberg Peninsula, where you’ll find a seal colony of over 6000 seals, swimming, playing and sunbathing on the rocks. You’ll observe them in an untapped, untouched environment – seeing these highly sociable animals engage with each other – and with you! Watch as they dash, dive, jump and frolic – and keep an eye out for the adorable, curious seal pups.
You’ll be guided by our expert guide, Ash, and friendly skipper, Chris – who have over 20 years of experience between them. They’ll teach you more about these gentle-natured, curious creatures as you watch them in their natural habitat, bonding, playing and showing off their acrobatic skills.
This experience is truly unlike any other animal encounter in South Africa. No cages or distance will separate you from these animals – making it a fully immersive and interactive experience that will bring you right into the Cape Fur Seal’s natural habitat. Observe, interact and engage with the seals – you’ll find them as equally interested in you as you are in them!
Not only will you make memories to last a lifetime, but we’ll be there to capture them for you. Our team will take photos and videos of your trip that are FREE to download directly from our site.

Some of the friendliest, and most gentle-natured of all underwater mammals. Curious, and playful, they will show interest in you – swimming up to you, interacting, and showing off their natural acrobatic skills. One look into their eyes and you’ll form an incredible connection – bonding you to these creatures in a way that’s unique to any other animal encounter you’ll experience in South Africa.
The Cape Fur Seal colony at Robberg is home to over 6000 seals – one of South Africa’s largest. Watch them dart, dive and duck beneath the waves as they play and interact with each other – and you! Their sweet-natured temperament makes our Seal Swimming and Seal Viewing experiences safe and enjoyable for all ages.
